Sam Scales a Counsellor in St Leonards

About Me

I trained at the Wealden College of Counselling and Psychotherapy on their British Association of Counsellors and Pyschotherapists (BACP) accredited Diploma in Counselling Course and was awarded a Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling.

I have continued training in areas such as trauma and sexual abuse, suicide, loss and bereavement and couples therapy. In addition to my private practice I spent 5 years working for a local counselling charity. Here I worked with clients who presented with a diverse range of issues such as; anxiety, depression, childhood and relationship issues, anger and low self-esteem. I also worked specifically with victims of sexual assault and abuse as well as those affected by suicide or struggling with suicidal thoughts. I have experience of working for a national bereavement charity and hold a certificate in bereavement counselling.

In the past I have also worked as a volunteer mentor for young people at the Prince’s Trust and with a charity for single parents.

I am a member of the BACP and work to their code of practice and ethics. I also hold professional insurance.
I work with individuals (from age 16yrs) and couples.
In addition to face to face counselling, I also offer telephone counselling and Skype for those who find it difficult for whatever reason, to attend an appointment.
